What is Amazon Prime Mentality?
Remember the old days when we would order something and it would arrive within a week? Well since the launch of Amazon Prime we are used to instant gratification. Everything comes next day if not earlier. This has programmed peoples brains into being unable to wait for things.
How does this affect my business?
Well, the most obvious is if you sell a product, they are actually more likely to spend more money elsewhere to get an item quicker.
However this also affects you in regards to replying to messages. People want an answer to their questions instantly, if they message you about a product they're likely almost ready to buy and if you take a day to respond they'll buy elsewhere that does respond quicker.
But I can't Always Respond Straight Away, I have Other Commitments
Yes, we get that completely. There are a few solutions to this-
Reply as soon as you are able, carve out some time each day to respond to messages and emails.
Assign another person to help you reply to messages so it isn't all on you.
Have some automated responses set up to FAQ's.
Make sure there is plenty of info on your page or website so people are less likely to have questions.
Hire a social media manager who can reply or find out the info if needed.
I Don't Want To Be That Readily Available
This is very much a personal and business decision. You may find it makes no difference at all to your business and people respect your boundaries but in our experience, particularly with e-commerce businesses, people really do want a fast response!
